How this network of artists came to be:
You have to go back to 1992, in a small studio, on the top floor of loaf-building, where a group of painters concluded: that to have materials with the qualities they needed, they would have to make them themselves. A concept of ‘Self-Sufficiency’! With time, they all went off to do what artists do ? ‘Their own thing’!
Some landed in Canada and others in the U.S. of A., but they all continued to network with other like minded artists to make their material. Some of them produce traditional products to sell, others invent different tools-of-the-trade with newer materials and yet others are out there instructing but they all agree and demand quality and hold their art and their craft sacred.
Some of the products found in the catalog, were formulated and designed back in that original studio. Aqua-Dispersion is more than a pigment dispersion, it is a specific pallet of pigments; chosen for specific qualities and characteristics. It is amazingly concentrated, pure and free of anything that could limit its performance and it is more than an important part of paint ? it is also a Learning Tool.
I say this because it allows people to try many techniques without having to purchase palettes of each different paint-medium; it makes lots of paint, so experimenting is much less costly; students learn ‘How’ to invent their colors and ‘How’ to use all the different binders; and then the most important thing happens! The logic of painting materials, the simplicity of it all, pops into their brain and they are never again slave to an industry for their materials! They in fact become Self Sufficient!
And our little group of kindred spirits go on their once-in-a-lifetime creative trip, while passing on some info, materials and savings to thankful artists…and now with the internet they reach around the world!
